Sustainability Essentials
What do we mean by 'sustainability'?
When we say ‘sustainability’ we mean – embracing development and the use of resources that meet the needs of the present without compromising future generations to meet their own needs. It’s about having a positive impact on people and the environment, both at a local and global scale.
Why is it important at LSHTM?
With a 2,400 student / staff population spread across two central London buildings, we collectively have a significant impact on our surrounding environment through our day to day activities.
This October marks the 120th anniversary of LSHTM’s foundation, and we want to ensure it flourishes for another century and beyond! But to do that we need everyone’s support. We all have a responsibility to play our part in developing a sustainable institution, whether it’s through; how we travel, the energy we use, the waste we generate, what we buy, what we share, what we learn, and what we teach.
Here are 5 quick sustainability information links to get you started
